Mission Aim-5A: Hope in their past Footsteps

Being in places of the Holy Spirit

As great a read as they are, the written Gospels can sometimes evoke a limited affect in us in the here and now.
Our own experience showed that, certainly for us and many Christians like us, it was not just about tiptoeing through the NT to familiarise ourselves with Scripture and lessons, but to "bring alive" the incredible things achieved by the few in those ancient times, it was necessary to be standing - "being" - in the places where none other than the Holy Spirit acted with the ordinary sons of Man - those like you and me; and the one time ordinary fishers of fish!

Beyond reading, beyond seeing

Here in the 21st century, we ordinary from "Mere Christianity"(C S Lewis), have the opportunities of modern day travel, to feel; to engage, as in no other time before. It is an opportunity to experience the past and return to see more clearly in the present day. By going beyond our normal everyday lives to the places of The Holy Spirit, we can bring a deeper connection into our lives

 EXPERIENCE Beyond
The greatest of humanity - thinkers, doers, artists - have said their works were often beyond them. Help appeared to be at hand; and many of their works stand as proof. Such men and women went "beyond" themselves. They felt a moment, a sound, a spark, a thought, that they then inimitably expressed for us mere mortals.

Similarly, for us too now in everyday life, this experiencing "beyond" is not really beyond us as human beings. Say if we went to a museum, gallery or in a book? Or a site of WWII horrors, or Stonehenge, or the Pyramids? Or listen to music? We know from our own perceptions, how deeply we can be changed. It is logical that we can also experience beyond our normal senses in the places of Christ.

For you To Be
To Be, to experience beyond our norm in the places of the Holy Spirit when He was with Christ, Paul, Peter, and Thomas is a logical and achievable quest.

To engage on this path, not clothed as the sceptic, the worn-down, the life-jaded - that modernity can sometimes make of us. But to come at it as the child (Mt 10:13). The child with enthusiasm, excitement, and wonder. As in the Hope at the approaching Christmas - even when it’s still only the summer holidays!!!

To help Christians approach, experience, truly "be in" the places of the Holy Spirit in the way of a child, is our aim.
